It costs...

The cost of the gasket and a few bloody knuckles. Need a 10mm metric socket with different size attachments. It is preferable to jack the front end and use jack stands to get at it. Also make sure you use the correct bolt pattern to reattach the oil pan. (Hayes Manual). High temp gasket sealant is needed. Like one full tube. I disconnected the steering crossmember at the fire wall and dropped it down to access the oil pan once all the bolts were loose. There is also specific engine models that have the engine mount run through the middle of the oil pan. I don't know exactly what this entails to remove. Probably a jack stand to support the engine if this is the case. Have fun and wear eye protection as **** will fall in your eyes garanteed.

pm me or yahoo messanger if you need more specifics.

OK

HERE IT IS IN A NUT SHELL

FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF.

Your website suggest you know how to do this minor repair. Don't ask a stupid question that you know the answer to.

Arrow 3rd Gen?

If it's on a 3rd gen it's very expensive due to all the labor involved. You HAVE TO drop the entire sub-frame to do the oil pan on a 3rd gen. Unlike a second gen....
I have done 3 of them on all my 3rd gens that I owned and I wouldn't even let the local Mazda dealer get within viewing distance, much less actually touch my car! They wanted $500 and then I would have to trust that they didn't mess something up......no way! I do ALL my own gasgets.

The hardest part is getting it up on a commercial type jack. That save a TON of time. Factory manual helps a lot on this one....
Good Luck!

I've got an 86...I'm not sure if I could attempt this job myself or not. I'd like to, but I don't know if I have the equipment or the know how. I may take it to a local shop here if it's not too expensive. Can someone elaborate on the instalation instructions? Does my model have the motor mount through the oil pan? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I've got a leak and I'm installing a new gasket and baffle from mazdatrix

On my 3rd gen I had it done for $160. Thy gave me a 50% discount because the engine warranty expired the week before my lazy *** finally decided to take it over there. You can buy the gasket and do it yourself for under $20.

Yeah, on my FB, it was fairly labor intensive. The gasket itself was only $10, but labor...whew!

garfinkle does this job but does not use a gasket .he uses the good expensive sealer from honda or toyota the mazda sealer cost way to much .the only drawback is the three day dry time.

Dunno where you are pricing oil pan gaskets at, but I priced one for my cosmo 13b and it was $30... The front cover one was $20, screw that those are low pressure areas, ultra grey or ultra black Works just fine, and it was $2

You can get gaskets from Mazdatrix for cheap. Oil pan and front cover were around $10-$15 each 6 months ago when I was replacing the engine in my REPU
