what are the pros vs. the cons of welding your differential?

i'm not sure if i want to do it or not, so if you could please tell me the good and the bad of it?.. and if it matters i drive an 88 GXL, so i have the lsd

It screws up the handling of your car, when you turn the wheels follow different paths and different distances. If you weld the diff you will have one wheel break traction every time you turn, or if your tires are sticky enough you will break whatever the next weakest link is. Dont do it, its a pretty retarded thing to do.

If it's a drag only car, go for it. If you drive it on the street at all, don't.

The next weakest link seems to be the stub axles coming out of the diff. I have a couple broken ones from one of the race cars with just a tight LSD and slicks.

On a street car its not a good idea. Race car you can get away with it.

i was going to do it for drifting, but i aklready have a 1.5, can you guys explain the diference in driving a 1.5 and a 2?
i know the basics, but not all of it

1.5 has 50% less grip in deceleration, not good for drifting but don't weld it. Get and open dif and weld it and sell this one.

yeah i was planing on geting an open dif, i might just keep the lsd, just incase something goes wrong with the welds.. how much do you think i could get for the lsd though?

No experience with RX7's but every other car I own, AE86, S12 and E36 all go for roughly $400 whether OEM or aftermarket.

depends on how used it is for an after market one. Brand matters usually.
