What is this plug for (with pic)

hi there, i bought this car in bits and peicies. i am putting it all back together but i am wondering where this plug goes, it lies above the thermostat housing, and also what is this sensor for on the housing? temp?

its a 1992 fd3s

1st pic is for the smog pump clutch
2nd pic, i believe is for automatic cars for the aux temp sensor

never seen this on a manual car and its definately a temp sensor. All the JP spec, US and EU specs i have seen they have a plug there so i think mr Evolution is correct

brilliant guys thank you very much for your reply,
the car was imported from japan so that sounds correct and the smog pump is that air pump? that sounds correct also as i dont have one anymore..

The first connector is the air pump, correct.

The sensor on the side of the thermostat housing is aftermarket. The automatic temp sensor mounts in the front of the housing.

i recall it being towards the front but figured someone may have moved it as they couldn't find a replacement auto thermostat housing. the auto thermostat housing is slightly different with the additional temp sensor located just next to the low coolant level switch.
