Using water to check for exhaust leaks
After a very long time of having a hesitation problem in my REPU I have been running out of ideas as to what the problem was. I have pulled the entre intake off several times and sealed everything that I though could possible lead to a slight intake leak, I have gone over the ignition system who knows how many times and just yesterday I thought maybe I have a sicking side or apex seal. I figured I would suck about a gallon of water through a vaccuum line and see if that improved things. Well so far it is tough to tell if anything is running better, but I did find a serious exhaust leak between the exhaust manifold and the cat. Water was just bubbling out and pouring on the ground. I cant believe I never see/smell smoke coming out that gap, it is that bad.
I wonder if this is the cause of my hesitation problem? How much effect will a big exhaust leak there have on an N/A rotary?
Even if that is not the cause of my REPU problems, it was fun watching a gallon of water shoot out the exhaust. Now to figure out how to get water into the front rotor and do it all again.

The cat on the REPU is practically new, has maybe 5k miles on it. I would be quite shocked if it were clogged. I just have a blowh manifold to cat gasket, either that or the shop who built the exhaust didnt get it lined up perfectly so it is bent slightly to one side.
