Trouble Starting Rebuilt S4 13BT

So I bought this a project car which is a S4 TII. The original owner ran out of funds to finish. The motor in it has a streetport using racingbeat templates. The rebuild kit used was from atkins rotary using ceramic apex seals. It has a walbro 255 as the fuel pump. It is using the stock turbo, has a gilmer belt drive, stock injectors, and using the stock wiring harness with N333 ECU. I got a really good deal on the car and he threw in some aftermarket parts and lots of extras. Before I bought the car the guy started it for me to prove that it does indeed run just not idle. The motor has 0miles on it. I have started the car myself now a few times but it will not idle. I have to press the throttle to keep it alive and if it drops below 1500 it will die. To start the car I had to crank it for a bit but it eventually started. He also gave me the stock ECU that has rtek 1.8 on it. I also have a microtech LT8S standalone that I prefer to use but I would have to pull it out of the other car. But should I be OK using the stock electronics the way it sits to start and run the car? Should it be this much trouble to start the motor and how come it will not idle? The other rebuilt motor I had before was similar but I got it running with the standalone pretty easily but immediately had to sell due to school. I never actually had the throttle hooked up correctly on the last one so I don't actually know if it idled correctly. LOL But it was way easier to start! The new owner never complained so I take to it that it is still going. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance. I will try to post a video soon enough.

Are you trying to start it cold and it dies? Maybe he deleted the thermowax?
