Trouble Starting '87 FC Non-Turbo
Trouble Starting '87 FC Non-Turbo
Hey there, I'm new to the rotary world and I just bought a stock '87 non-turbo gxl at the beginning of last summer. It's ran good up until about two months ago when I stopped at a gas station. When I came back out to start my car it wouldn't start. At most it will fire off for a second then dies immediately. I have replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, fuel pump and fuel pump relay. I've also got a fuel filter I'm going to swap out. After doing this it still has the same issue. I'm leaning towards cleaning/buying new fuel injectors. As far as I know everything on the car is original so I figure it could be due to old age. If anyone has any experience with this issue or advice I would be very grateful to hear your input! I hope to be proficient in rotaries one day but as of now I need to focus on high school. But for now I could use your help. Thanks a bunch.
Welcome to the forum. I think our resident FC guy is @WondrousBread.
You've already started with some of the basics and things you'd want to do as maintenance any how.
If you haven't already you can download the factory service manual hereFoxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

welcome to the board.
check the lead plugs and see if they are wet. if they are, then you will need to de-flood it before trying to start it.
if they are not wet, check for spark, check the coil/igniter.

I agree with diabolical1 pull plugs to see what's happening, sounds similar to my situation. Do you have multimeter?
