Tapping cast iron manifold?

Is it ok to do? I want to tap the stock twin turbo exhaust manifold (nonseq) for EGT sensors. Any special techniques, tools, bits?

I think it's more common to weld in a bung.

Quick search, I think you want to weld one of these in. http://www.thesensorconnection.com/s...ngs/index.html

Its fine. Drill bit + tap. Drill hole, tap with cutting fluid, 1/2 turn at a time. Clean tap often.

+1

Tap cutting oil is a must. Motor oil, WD40, etc is not the same. You'll be fine.

Chris, do you have any pics of the location/install in the stock cast manifold? I want atleast one probe for my FB project. I like your suggestion in a newer thread about just logging to the PS1000. I don't want the cockpit full of gauges. Want to have only Boost and Wideband on A pillar.
