synthetic mix

Used pennzoil 10w30 synthetic blend in my 13b it makes great oil pressure and idles very smooth, but now the car is slow as *****, it wont boost hardley over 2psi and if you get on it fairly hard from a dead stop it hesitates very bad then finally picks up at about 3k. Not really asking a question just kind of posting an experience. I will be switching it out with conventional today. (Maybe thats why the owners manual says to not use synthetic )

welcome to the board.

dude, your oil is not causing what you describe. start looking elsewhere (ignition system, vacuum leaks, wastegate control, etc.). when was your last tune-up?

by the way, the short version of the Mazda/synthetic oil-thing is they are not allowed to tell theit customers not to buy specific brands of oil and i believe they had a beef with Mobil a long time ago.

on a more self-serving note, have you ever considered Amsoil?

I just bought the car last week and before i bought it i had the dealership do a tune up on it, or so they said they did, but the plugs are brand new wires are new from what i can tell, i always use at least 89 octane, and this started happening right after i changed the oil so that is why i am confident it is the oil. Im not sure of vacuum lines though. And actually i was considering amsoil that is why i tried a synthetic to se how it would perform, and after i saw if the results of a synthetic were positive i was going to get amsoil or torco.

Well, I have heard of people using atf in cyl engines to help free up sticky hydrolic lifters. Its not 100% atf though, maybe jsut a quart or less i believe
