CA Surging after adjusting TPS

94 FD stock setup

Car Idles fine but after adjusting TPS car is surging when RPM are increased above around 1500-2000. If I adjust the TPS back the other way it stops surging but starts popping and misfiring. Any ideas? Car has brand new coolant temp, iat, O2, pressure regulator, damper, fuel temp.

I warmed the car up to operating temp and until the fast idle cam had fully disengaged dropping me down to normal idle. Shut it off hooked meter up at computer connector wanted to make sure wiring wasn’t an issue. Got it all set within voltage limits, fired it up and she purred like a kitten climbs revs and drops them fine. However if you try and hold it at an RPM above idle it start to surge and will not hold the revs steady. So readjusted it so hit had a little more voltage and was surging less but still surging. Finally just manual moved the fast idle cam so it was wide open much further then it gets moved by the waxpellet and pushrod so that throttle plate was fully closed. Now it will hold at the desired revs but pops and stumbles it’s not smooth while holding desired rpm. I will go threw the procedures again tomorrow take my time make sure it gets nice and warmed up and set it via the proper procedures. Do I start out with voltage on low side and just keep increasing it tell it’ll hold revs? Or do I just set it right in the middle even if it causes it to surge?

mine does this too, the ECU uses timing and then the BAC duty to get to its target idle speed, and if you're out of its RPM target (at idle) it will surge. its trying (and failing) to get to its target idle speed.
sounds fine, but i can't get mine not to do it at some point as its warming up!

you might try restting the ecu it has some learning "feature"

My idle is stable it doesn’t start the surging tell you raise the RPM up over around 1500 and try to hold it steady if your climbing rpm or dropping them it’s smooth, idle is smooth. I’ll try to get some pictures and a short video or 2 so y’all can see what she is doing before and after I adjust the TPS. As far as resetting the Computer just unhook the battery for a set time? It’s stock computer the car is pretty much back to stock.

Ok went threw the procedures again got the TPS adjusted discounted the battery and pressed break pedal for 30+seconds to reset the computer and everything seems to be working fine. Idle is good a few little pops and misses here and there but not bad at all and I can now hold her at 2500 rpm with no surging and no pops and sputters, I think maybe the key was disconnecting the negative cable and pressing break pedal for 30+ seconds. Book said 20 seconds but I just wanted to be sure. I ignored the battery and break pedal the other day because it said that was for resetting errors well I didn’t have any errors I was just adjusting it but I guess it needed to reset computer to be happy. I took some before and after videos I’ll try and edit them down and post them.
