what will a broken narrow range TPS do?
hi,
i think i broke the narrow range sensor on my S5 TPS (don't ask).
just wondering if anything will be affected by it? i know narrow range is used to basically tell the ECU if throttle is ~0% or if it's 100%.
my full range is still fine.
thanks

see the thread on tps removal I put up... in short, your idle might need to be adjusted up, your car might drive smoother, and you'll use an amount more fuel, specifics as yet undetermined, potentially irrelevant.

hmmm...well i guess i will see how it drives first.
it's actually not broken, it's just stuck in the 0% position.
i might be able to get an S4 TPS, i wonder if this would work, since it is a narrow range also? or is it rather a partial range...

ok, well here is one of my problems right now:
car won't rev past 2k or so unless i jam the broken narrow range sensor all the way down??
and idle is more or less crap compared to before, so is off-throttle decel, it misfires a lot...
i can get a new TPS, but i have to drive there. what should i do? can i just cut the wires for the narrow range TPS?

i will try to see how it drives with it disconnected, but i was under the assumption it would go into a limp mode of sorts...

get a pin removal tool or a strong paperclip. remove the narrow band pins from the harness.
it's pretty damn simple, and you don't have to cut any wires.
if you want a more thorough explanation, lemme know.

so you guys are saying it can be driven if i just disconnect the whole TPS? just pull the 6 wire connector?
