many people don't recommend using synthetic in rotaries. and some people do recommend it.

I personally won't, but to each his own.

no hard data here, but this is how i approach this topic.

i have used that brand in past cars - daily drivers only. i even used in my Rx-7 before the ported engine went in. no notable problems here. the original engine has been disassembled and will be rebuilt when i get to it.

it all comes down to how you use the car and how often you're willing to change your oil. i see no problem using it if you don't plan to constantly be beating on the motor while trying to get the most miles out of the oil. for that, i use a quality synthetic - but i'm not opening that can of worms. my point is, it is what it is - an cheaper (more affordable) brand. it's to be used in a pedestrian manner - not high performance.

i'd be more of stickler with filters than i would the oil itself. now, for that i accept nothing less than Mazda filters.

IMO I wouldn't do that. It's a Walmart brand for God's sake. I say spend that $1 or 2 more per quart and have the ease of mind of knowing you have a decent oil.

i refuse to shop at walmart. it's such a terrible company. hiring illegals, poor treatment of women, who/where they buy their products from, etc.

Generally Fds are hard to sell for more than 16k. And they dont have more value than ferraris or Zo6s

Exactly.

I dont think anyone had an issue related to oil when they blew their engine.

Just put whatever oil and change it every 2-3 months (2000-3000 miles)

They way not have more value but they definately hold their value as well or if not better as eigther two, pluss they still make corvettes and ferraris, and I see more of both on the roads than a well taken care of FD,

there's no for me to defend my stance and i realize that this isn't even about me. i know what i'm doing, and don't seek validation, but still ...

i find it funny because i'm willing to bet that most of you that seemed to be so up in arms about the thought of using a Wal-Mart branded motor oil (not made, mind you - not that that would matter either) and chastise those that have and do use it; i'm willing to be that those of you that have actually lost motors, lost them because you cheaped out on things that were a hell of a lot more critical than motor oil.

I use Supertech now on all my motors ... I started using it on my 240sx before the swap and then started using it on my skyline motor, next was my 7mgte Supra, NON Turbo 300zx .... It seemed to feel much better than mobil 1 to me ... It might have been the cost factor alone but I know we cannot keep the synthetic brand on the shelves here ... I then got brave and started using it on my rotary ... the gas mileage increased and the motor felt much more smooth than before.

Its made by Quakerstate for Wal-Mart.
