I would say leave it alone, cleaned up it looks pretty good IMHO.

unless you go removing all the accessories and emissions, which then makes
the car a bit unfriendly.

concentrate on detailing what you HAVE rather then removing.

my pic happens to be the same year as yours convertible.

heres a few pics of the vert. engine was removed and rebuilt so the bay got painted with the car. powdercoated the UIM etc. and new vac lines . painted the black plastic parts and removed the cold assist bottle . removing the stock fan and shroud and installing the efan opens up the front nicely . engine block looked a lot nicer out of the bay, can't really see much of it now .

it did win "BEST STOCK" one year at Rotorfest even with over 150k miles on the car.

Hopefully this year it wins in another catagory as its no longer going to be stock.

I kept the A/C (missing a line in these pics), P/S and fog lamps, everything else was ditched and the battery is behind the passenger seat under the spare tire cover.

88 Se

Here's a picture of under the hood on my 88 SE. I had the engine rebuilt with a street port, lightened components & lighter flywheel.
