RX7 or No RX7??????

I am about to go look at a 1993 Mazda RX7 today. Here is some of the spec. 5 speed, Twin Turbo, Leather Seat, Ac, Power Windows, Locks, Full Veilside body kit, Center force clutch. Heres the down fall, The engine is toast so this is why its selling it for $5000.00 firm. I was able to locate a JDM motor for $2000.00 shipped. I need some opinions, Do you think this is worth it or no? Also heard rotary engines are a headache and a half. Is this true?

Only headache comes from the noisy *** exhaust.
IMO rotary unreliability is a extremely exaggerated myth

i think that is a good deal. Rebuild the engine, and you will still be about $10000 for the FD, which is really cheap when you are in Canada.

Bought the car today for $5000.00 Canadian dollers working out out being about $4400 usd. Was able to locate a engine for $1700usd. Now the guy that I purchased the car from says that these cars require high matinance. Also the block needs to be filled with antifreeze in the winter then drained for the summer. What can you guys tell me so that I can keep this car running for a long time. Thanks

They do need maintenance, but nothing too hard. and you should drain the coolant at least annually anyways. First thing to do it get your car a better cooling system, a downpipe, a boost gauge and accurate or linearized stock water temperature gauge.

The 3rd gen section is loaded with info, and the othe rmembers will help out if you have a question on what to do. I reccomend ditching the bodykit as well.

Just stay on top of the maintenance, which is basically the same as any other car. They just don't take to running past the normal schedule like piston engines do. And make sure most of all to check your oil every 500-1000mi/1000-1500km at the very least, more often would be better.
