Rotary Internals

Hi I'm looking in to maby getting an rx-7 but I don't really know that much about rotary engines. If you are going to try to push the horsepower to 450+ do you have to do anything to the internals or will they hold up stock?

You will need some form of uprated seals. Iannettis (sp?) are the daddies for seals. Then you will need to look at porting.

hmmm...

500HP+ and the rear and front covers for the motor tend to crack and give out.

Are you talking about 450 rear wheel HP or engine HP?

My car (and others) push 400+ at the wheels with completely stock 1993-1995 internals. If you are buying an older one, there are a few weaker areas that might be a little more sensitive, but I'm not too sharp on those models.

I suggest you learn alot about rotary engines before even thinking about getting an rx7 and wanting 450rwhp from it. What do you expect to do with the car with this much HP? Remember it doesnt take nearly as much HP to have a blazing fast rx7 as it takes for a Supra or 300zx.

Why would I need less horsepower to have a blazing fast rx7? Information on this would be helpful.

becase an FD weigh's in at around 2600 pounds w/ out driver,,, thats about one THOUSAND pounds lighter than a supra... 300zx ect...

there have been many guesses but what i have heard is that a supra needs to have around 200 more hp than the fd (450rx7 = 650supra) or something around that to have equal acceleration...
