Rich,??? whadda mean I can lean it out?

Hi everyone, first post so be gentle.
I got a second generation non-turbo project on my hands and its clearly running rich, I've dug a bit and it seems there's no adjustment..? what!?!? is this true? is there no workaround?
what's the scoop on the modified ecu? I might be naive but has anyone ever spoken of two Ox sensors,a resistor and letting the ecu correct from there? enough of that,
next question having driven the second gen I've begun to see the philosophies that Mazda has held and have become interested in the 3Gen7. reading through out this forum is a bit depressing however because I'm primarily looking for a reliable beater while I push other projects. Is the 3G13btt-apex seals- a headache? could some of you post some horror stories about the wankle to scare my off please.

That a/f adjustment screw is on the passenger side strut tower, by the airbox. Its next to the "Pressure Sensor" box.

The 3rd Gen is NOT a reliable beater. It is not reliable. It is not a beater. Don't even think about it.

ha, I ment beater in the looses term. clearly the 7 isn' a beater but while I"m neck high in VW greese, I need something to behave like a beater and get my to/from school and work without protest. having read your post and many like it i'd have to say i'll probably shy towards something with connecting rods. thanks for the candid advice just ashame mazda built one of the sexiest :p , best performing cars on the road and couldn't find enough incentive to engineer a little longevity into it.

there is one way to keep the longevity of the RX7. Careful maintenance. If that fails, you can always swap in a more durable ford or chevy powerplant. But then again, if you are in too deep on a VW, never mind the RX-7 swap.

What kind of VW do you have that pushes 15 PSI and still only runs 14's?

I was able to see high 13's (with almost 2 second 60 foot times) in my 88 GTI 16V with nothing but a stripped interior from the doors back, full TT exhaust, K+N, full throttle module, and a 35 HP shot of nitrous.

Hell, my 92 AWD Laser can push 14's stock, and it only runs like 10 PSI.

I've got a heavy corrado with the 1.8 8v. that 8v head flows like crap even after the PnP and cam. I've also got a 87 gti and a 2.0 16v out of a passat destin for a t3. i'm sure the 1/4 times will be much better since it's not in the car it wouldn't make much sence to talk about it.

longevity

My gen 1 83 is going on 183000 miles. will still handle 7500rpm shifts daily, and still has better than 60psi oil pressure at anything over 1000rpm. Not to bad for cars that arn't built to last long. now if i could only get the rest of the car to hold up like the drive train.
