motor been siting for 8 months recomendations before starting? also misc. ?'s

ok this is a 90 motor remanufactured with about 600 mi on it was in a totaled car for about 2 months was removed and sat in my garage for another 6 months. i am in the proses of putting it into my 87 which i just blew the motor on.
anything i should do to it before trying to start?
i just replaced front cover, OMP, and TB.
also injectors from the 87 were used.
i am going to see if the vacume spider from the 90 can be used.
does anyone know??
we will see how it turns out
thanks

My RX-7 sat for about the same amout of time and i had no clue what to do so i talked to a mazda dealer and he said that if they sit for a long time the only way that they will start back is if you coast start them. So try that and if that doesnt work tell me and ill try to figure something else out.

I would charge the battery first then pull out the fuel pump relay and crank it over for a minute first so it has a chance to circulate oil without starting. Check fluid levels too.

Have you tried turning the engine clockwise at the front with a breaking bar and socket?

do a search on "atf trick" i dont like the idea of letting it sit overnight. it is not necessary. put a bit in, crank, a little more, crank, and that is it. start it up. i dont like to let it sit due to the atf breaking down carbon. say you do break down a deposit of carbon, i feel it will do more damage than good. it will wrech havoc on your motor. ( that piece of carbon is hard)

sitting

The last 7 i bought was an 83 that had been sitting for two years. My very complicated procedure was to hook up a set of jumper cables and fire it up. Took about ten minutes and a splash of gas down the carb. She has been running like a champ ever since. I'm starting to think these engines arn't as fragile as everyone thinks. Of the three i have, all run great. none of them ever flood, carbon lock apex stick or any of the other common problems. keep the oil changed, keep it cool and drive the dog mess out of it. That 83 has 183000 miles on it, i drive it 2-4 days a week and is gets a 6-7500 rpm shifts all the time. I don't treat the rotarys any different than i treat every other engine i have ever owned. Maybe that little triangle god is just keeping an eye on me. (i just hope it doesn't blow up on the way to work in the morning

If at all possible, I'd recommend draining all the gas out and refilling prior to trying to start. Gas turns bad on occasion. Smells turpentine like and does not help. Also it would help to take the lower plugs out and spin the engine for a minute or so. That should get the oil pressure up and circulating around inside with no load on the bearings. Pull the plug off the cas prior to doing this, or the ECU fuse.
