renesis > 13b?
lol...I hear that question all the time from 1st and 2nd gen'ers, buy that is hysterical coming from a fd owner. You can get huge power from the 13b, but it will be a little bit before you get any forced induction for the renesis.

If you put a bone stock renisis engine in a FD, it will be faster than a bone stock FD. The engine weighs 120 lbs less, you need no IC, turbos or any of the other supporting hardware. You will lose torque, but you gain power to weight. You will have to rev the car higher but it WILL be faster. Modifications are a different ball game, until you put a turbo or S/C on the renni, a modified FD engine will eat it for lunch.

120lb is a tiny amount of weight to lose (~4%!) compared to the massive difference in torque throughout the rev range. It's not just peak torque that matters, but the fact that turbo'd engine will be making considerably more torque in the mid-range, and that's what makes cars fast.

Either way, I cant dis-agree with you more. Like I said the FD with
the renisis would have to be launched at a higher RPM, but it would be faster by a few 10ths if PROPERLY driven. I'll also agree that the AVERAGE person may get a better time in the FD with the stock engine, but with a great driver, the one with the reni will win.

A step down in performance maybe, but wouldn't it be nice to have a motor that lasts more than 70k? Let's look at the numbers, shall we? The 1993 RX-7 R1 made 255 hp and 164 ft/lb of torque. The new Renesis makes 250 hp and 159 ft/lb of torque. I don't know how the 13B TT torque curve looks, but the Renesis has 90% of it's torque available at 3000 rpm. the 93-95 rx7 made 217 lbs of torque. I think the trade would be cool, it will be harder to extract the performance out of it in stock form, but again, the *ENGINE* is *FAR* superior to 93-95 13B. Put a s/c or turbo or do other mods and you will have a screamer. I wanna just put a n/a renni in mine...
