Rebuild Questions (newbie)

I had to take my engine apart because it was starting to consume a lot of coolant and this will be my first rebuild. I am reusing the stock apex seals since I had perfect compression before taking it apart and I am putting them back in their original locations in each rotor and I have a replacement iron. What sealant do I use for putting the 3 piece apex seals back together, will any loctite work? Also while I have it apart, I am thinking about just giving it a mild street port and am wondering if I am required to port the exhaust, I can find tons of info on intake porting and the templates that I have seen for a SP exhaust don't appear to remove that much material, should I even worry about porting it if I am going to use the stock or hybrid turbo.

gains in flow, and subsequently turbo response, are still there to be had if you do a mild streetport. should you? that's totally up to you. i simply don't build stockport engines for myself any more - but that's my choice.

as for the apex seals during assembly, just use krazy glue (or a similar product). if torquing down the tension bolts doesn't break it, the gasoline surely will.

Big ports are nice on a turbo engine. I'd definitely port the intake.

TII exhaust ports are already pretty big. It's up to you whether to port them or not. If you want to keep it mild, I'd extend the closing and increase the width by around 2mm (basically, go out to the edge of the stock bevel, then make a new one). Then give the opening edge a slight curve and smooth everything out. I've done that before on NA engines with good results, and I imagine the gains would be even higher for a turbo motor.

some people are of the opinion that on a turbo there is no need to port the EX however I have done some of my own research and found incredible gains on the flow bench whenI port EX . My opinion is if i can gain exhaust flow out of the engine and make room for a cleaner charge, then that should = more HP.....also if EX flow is greater going out i would expect a quicker spool time reduceing lag.....but thats my 2 pennies
