Racing Energy Oil Filter (R Magic)

I live in Tokyo so my local auto part store has all the tuner brand oil as common everyday products, HKS, Greddy, etc. but they also sell 2 specific rotary only oil, Re-Amemiya Super G and Racing Energy (by R Magic) oil which is supposed to be low ash so it burns and lubricates the apex seals better than other oil when its injected (allegedly)

anyway, the oil costs $100-120 for a single oil change. Eff that, I think I'll just start to premix. But anyway, Racing Energy also had an oil filter, specifically for Rotary Engines (SA22C, FC3S(C), FD3S, & SE3P) I decided to buy it since it was only a whopping 12 bucks (a standard on-off toggle switch costs 12 bucks in Japan, this place is friggin expensive)

When I got home and opened the package, this thing is tiny! it measures only 2 3/4 inches tall. the website says this is so if you use an oil sandwich adapter for oil pressure/temp it will clear the intake (on what model car, im not sure).

anybody see/use one of these filters before? anyone know what pro/con having the tiny size filter would be? Im pretture sure it affects oil capacity and pressure but is it really a big deal?

never seen one, so feel free to post a photo.

well, as you've said a clearance issue would be one of the few merits of a physically smaller filter. i know things can be done with the filtering media to increase filtering area (in order to maintain filtering capacity of the larger body filters), but generally speaking i'm a dinosaur, i prefer not going to smaller filters. it took me a VERY long time to give up on the old huge Rx-4/Rx-5 filters.

if you question it, why not just use OEM filters since it designed for the engine?

Though it may have a smaller height,in my opinion it would come down to what the filter consists of and if the materials are effective in filtering particles out of the oil.
I use WIX..but that is me.I like them,I use them.

There are a lot of Filter threads out there, and frankly it is a pissing match between "that" and "what oil should I use?,conventional or synthetic?"

When it boils down to it,I'd settle with what WORKS as what "others use"..IF everyone used one brand and it sucked then we'd all be in trouble!

Diabolical1: he posted a link..says "website"...(cute filter..does it have a sister?..hahhaha!)

honestly, i don't particularly care what i use - no real loyalty or hatred for any brands. as a general rule, i try to keep a personal stock of OEM filters (that i buy online - as opposed to walk-in), but if i happen to run out and need to change my oil, i don't lose sleep over it. i just head out to Wal-Mart or Autozone or whatever and pick one up. i stick to brands that i am at least somewhat familiar with - i mean, if i saw a brown box and all it said on it was "oil filter" written on it, then i'd likely avoid it. the only reason i even bother with the OEM stuff is because they are supposedly valved.
