question for the experts
I just replaced my motor with a used engine. Car starts up fine revs fine but there is a tapping sound coming from the engine that increases with RPM but is not there at idle Im running a Mikuni 44, RB hedders, Carter fuel pump, and a FC1000 ignition that was all on my old motor working fine till I lost compression to the front rotor due to an oil leak. A friend of mine added a bottle of some carb and injector cleaner to my gas, the bottle said treats up to 21 gallon mix in with full tank. He added the whole bottle to the one maybe two gallons that was in my tank. My question is could the tapping be caused by the fuel additive being mixed improperly? detonation? Im going to fill the tank and hope it fixes it. It says add to full tank and he added it to a basicaly empty one. Car also heated up very quickly
Any help is appreciated

Problem solved needed to get more gas in there. But I do have another question. Does the lever on the OMP have to go up wiith the throttle or can I have it tied up so its up all the way all the time?

yeah that one. I was thinking of hooking it to a bicycle brake cable or a short piece of throttle cable but I wanted to know if it benifits the engine having the lever locked up at all times and not follow the throttle
the OMP lever activates the pump so a small amount of crank case oil is injected into the combustion chamber. Seems like if you wire it up, you won't get the pumping action and would lose the benefit of the OMP. Having said that, you would then have to manually add 2 cycle TCW3 oil to your gas to get that lubrication back. If you don't trust the OMP you might want to premix anyway. 1/2 to 1 oz. of 2 cycle per gallon, depending on how hard you drive the car. Run a search on premix. This topic has been discussed a lot. The OMP in my S4 is still hooked up and functioning, but I add 1/2 oz./gal to my gas.
So what your saying is the motion of the lever that follows the throttle going up and down pumps the oil? I thought the OMP lever ajusted how much oil was being pumped through the lines so the highest setting would pump the most oil. I didnt think the lever did the pumping.
