Putting a 2ng or 3rd Gen 13B in a 60's Mini Cooper. Need some Info. Thanks

I am going to start another project car. I want to use a 13B single turbo motor and put it in a 60's or 70's Mini Cooper. Its going to be a tight fit and alot of work but i am up for the task. I can fabricate anything and i am a master tig welder. I used to do tube chassis on drag cars so i am good with making things fit. Which motor would you reccomend using; the 86-92 13B or the 93-95 13B. I am looking for about 350 wheel hp, and i want to use the rx7 transmission. i am going to use a subaru rear end, hubs, and custom axles. I will have to cut the fire wall out and run a big section for the tranny and drive shaft. Here is my last project so you guys dont think i am full of crap. Here are the specs on it:

2002 Subaru wrx
EJ22 BLOCK
EJ25 CRANK
BORED, STROKED AND SLEEVED TO A 2.55 LITER
T04R TURBO
AUTRONIC ECU
800 CC INJECTORS
CARRILLO RODS
JE PISTONS
FULLY PORTED AND POLISHED HEADS WITH 9000 RPM COMPONENTS.
AIR TO WATER INTERCOOLER

All the work is done by me in my garage except for the machining to the block.

I'd put a 13b-rew from a 93-96 rex in it. that way you have a large support group for tuning it. I.e. power fc, and other mods. I don't know how far you'll what to go with this new project of yours, but there is a but-load of **** you can do to these engines!!! one question though------why wouldn't you just forget the mini and put this motor in a MG A or something cool looking like that?

not there's anything wrong with mini's. good luck

my subaru is in the sub 10's range. As soon as I throw the build auto with some new tuning i should be flrting with 9s. Currently i pulled the turbo manifold and parts off for redisigning.

I think the Mini idea is great... those cars feel like driving a go-cart as it is... I'd hate to see you kill yourself in one going 100 mph + they aren't exactly aerodynamic cars.

Holy bejeesus Nice Subie

Anyway, about the engines The 93+ is stronger in many ways but is not as cheap as an 89-91 turbo engine. If you like working on engines you could find a few blown s5's (89-91) and rebuild them to your specs. You can find blown ones for $400 or so, even cheaper if you don't want the turbo, which I doubt you do. I would just dig around for some blown S5 blocks and then read about rebuilding them or just buy an engine to your specs from a good tuner like www.pineappleracing.com .

13B with trans will be alot heavier. RWD mandatory. Should be a fun project. Talk about a sleeper.

Oh - nice Subaru - forget drag racing - set it up for the track. Where are you going to mount your radiator for your intercooler and how do you plan to get air to it? Won't be a prob if you are only going to drag.

Also looks like a very long rod. Can't tell from the pic. how much clearance there is below the oil ring. Looks like you relieved the block to. Nice work. If you are interested I would love to check it out some time. I am located in Pasadena.

Mine starts to shake a bit around 70-75, but when it gets to 90+, it seems fine (its a bit scary to stop it though! its got drum brakes all round!!)

the rod is actually alot shorter then i want it to be. with my new stroke the car has as piston to rod ratio of 1.67 with is a good torque motor but not a high revving motor. ideal would be 1.8 ratio.
