SC Problem with my roomate's RX-8

I should post this in the RX-8 forum, but I didn't want to get an account for a single problem.

Recently I bought a case of Idemitsu Racing Pre-mix. My roomate asked if could try some for his RX-8.

After 3 refills he said that his oil is turning milky. The oil on the dip stick is turning a bit white and isn't as see-through anymore. We don't know if it is the premix, the oil we got from Mazda, or something else. We know it's not moisture as there isn't any on the cap on in the filler tube.

Any ideas?

get the motor flushed see if that helps. I know some moisture occurs on mine but thats because it sits a lot.

I seem to be having this problem as well but I run home depot premix. I thought it might have something to do with me having no pcv valve but I guess not

Premix has nothing to do with the milky substance. It's proabably an 04-05 model year which did not have a PCV system like the 06-later RX-8s. Basically, if the milky crap cannot be seen when the oil is checked with the engine hot, it's just moisture from combustion gases. If the mily stuff is still there with a hot engine you have trouble.

Yes, but unfortunately his is a 2004 which is most likely out of warranty. The repair is costly since the upper intake assy. requires replacement.

We already checked on the warranty for the TSP on the fogging rear lens and heater logicon. His milage is fine (under 40000) but date wise it isn't. It expired back in May...

If anything we'll order the parts and do ourselves, since we are both techs.

shouldn't TSB's not care about warranty?

not if the car was sold/transferred to another owner. At least that's what Mazda told him. He even tried to cover it under the warranty from the used dealer. That didn't work either.

This is a link to the TSB

Honestly I wouldnt worry about it and do nothing at all. If it bothers your roommate that much, wouldnt installing a catchcan fix the issue anyway?

It doesn't bother him that much. He was just curious about it. The car runs fine. Thanks though for that pdf. It'll come in handy if we get around to doing anything with it.

if it is in basic warranty it's covered no matter who owns it. But it is out by time so he is SOL.
