Premixing Questions...

Here is a few questions about premixing.

I just recently bought a rotary that requires me to premix oil, according to the old owner. Currently im using Castrol 2T 2 stroke oil. I mix ~30-35ml/10L of 98RON.

First off I don't even know why this must be done. Someone tell me. What am I actually lubricating???

Second, am I using the right oil to premix if this is appropriate and am I using a resonable amount??

Thridly and probably most importantly. What happens to your spark plugs? It's starting to run a bit ****. And my guess is the spark plugs are fouling with oil deposits. This is my guess because this happens to my CRF450 dirt bike all the time.

If this is the case how to you go about solving this problem. Because they will foul damn quick if that is the case ~2000kms or so. Do you just replace them? I have heard off people sandblasting the plugs to clear the deposits. Is that going to work in this case?

My car still has the OMP/oil injection, but I premix also.
I mix 1/2oz. per gallon.
Although I use marine 2-stroke oil from walmart. There lots of other oils out there, each to there own liking.
If the engine doesn't have the OMP/oil injection, I believe the amount to premix is 1oz. per gallon.

BTW: This oil lubricates the rotors going around in the rotor housings, it lubricates the compression seals, it just needs to be done.

Since rotaries have oil going through the combustion chambers, spark plugs will get fouled, so cleaning them is a good idea.
A few days ago I cleaned my spark plugs with a dremel tool w/wire wheel, did a good job.
I guess you could sandblast them too, if ya want.
Ive also heard of cleaning them with sandpaper.

Check out the back of the bottle. I believe the certification is TCW3 to ensure that the oil will not clog your injectors. If the premix is required then the owner must have removed the omp and components. A good idea in my opinion to keep your engine cleaner than usual. Your spark plugs will foul more often than other cars but not as often as you think. Even in your dirtbike the plugs shouldn't foul too often or you have other problems like not riding it hard enough, too rich a mixture, or jetting issues etc..

Yea I try to drive the sev fairly hard every now and then. and I'm running a very rich tune because when it hits boost the air/fuel ratio drops a heap. But its definitely starting to run ****. Going to have to do something with the plugs soon...

The proper ratio is about 100:1, which equals 100 mL / 10 L. Any TCW-3 2 stroke oil should be fine. The rotary engine needs its internals lubricated. In stock form most come with an oil metering pump that injects motor oil into the engine. So the owner doesn't need to do anything special except make sure he keeps his oil topped off every couple thousand miles or so. Either the old owner was overly paranoid and doesn't understand rotaries or he removed his oil metering pump. Until you find out which it's best to play it safe and premix, to avoid serious engine damage. I never hear about anyone getting problems with the spark plugs on the stock setup nor with premixing. Could be another problem or fouled spark plugs from something else. I'd find the underlying cause then replace the spark plugs with new ones if they're fouled.
