+1, although 1oz of oil per gallon of fuel in the tank is a bit on the heavier side and probably better suited for race day or dyno day although it will not hurt a thing to stick to this easy ratio. You can run a thinner amount for lesser load driving like puttering around town.

Using premix in the tank is unquestionably better than the OMP stuff, I think. I've been doing it for 9 years now and it's curious how well the engine lasts while using it. Less wear on seals and especially the nitrided plating on the iron housings.

I don't have my OMP hooked up. I run 1 oz per gallon.
Hmm... Now I know what I'm going to do. There were a few reasons I wanted the RA setup: I won't have to dump oil at the pump, the chamber oil would outlast a single tank of gas, and I would immediately have lubricated chambers on startup (it has always been my fear that the chambers are not particularly well lubed after the motor has been sitting a while, and that the little bit of oil in the fuel wouldn't be enough to lubricate it very fast, possibly harming the seals, plates, and housings while it tries to start). That being said, it still does not distribute the oil real well, so I think I'm going to run the RA adapter AND premix some. The best of both worlds, and I'll just carry fixed size containers for the premix, making it easy during fill up (and it won't be critical what the ratio is, either).

I would think people would be using 128:1, that is 1 oz of oil per gallon.
Before my motor locked I always put about 16oz into ~13 gallons, which is right around 1.2oz/gallon, and my fill up would vary from 12 to 14 gallons.

yea i might go that route too. everything is blocked off just a matter of figuring out what ima use. i might just go with the 1oz per gallon. since its easier to remeber and alittler richer isnt a bad thing

i also use MMO. because its cheap and readily available.

as far as using a heavier concentrate on race or dyno day.....it seems like there would still have to be a reasonable balance of lubrication, versus lowering octane. well lubed is great! but lowering your octane significantly in the process...... almost seems like it defeats the purpose.

i have no data on this. this is just what ive gathered from reading here.

with those ratio's I dont think it can significantly lower the octane enough to matter.
1 gallon of 91 octane and 1 gallon of 100 octane =2 gallons of 95.5 octane
10 gallons of 91 octane and 10 oz of 2 stroke oil =10 gal 10oz of 90.99 octane, something like that

Why use MMO? Is it 2-stroke oil?

i dont think MMO actually advertises its 2-cycle. in fact i should prolly just switch to some 2-cycle from walmart.

i started using MMO when i bought the car cause thats the first thing i read everyone was using.

I've been premixing from time to time and would always pour a few ounces in the tank before or after filling with fuel. But then I got this 2 cycle tiller and it states NOT to pour oil directly in the tank. So, from now on when I premix I will actually PREmix and use a gas can and mix up a few gallons of heavy premix and shake it up then add it to the fuel tank.

btw, I started thinking about the term 'premix' and thought, I'm not actually premixing, just adding oil to the fuel tank. So guys, maybe if you truly premix your fuel/oil it seems to have a better chance mixing and not settle out.

does it really matter if u add the oil after u put gas in or before?
i thought the oil would mix in the fuel while the car is moving around?

About 6-8 minutes of driving will do the trick to mix the oil and gas.

i know i'm reviving an old thread, but this is closest to what i've been researching for. Do any of you guys recommend premixing for a dd car? Also how do you know how much to mix? I'd hate to have to bring a gas can around and mix it; would filling the tank and doing the math on how much oil is needed and pouring it in, be a stupid idea??

1/4 ounce per gallon with working omp. And no dont bring a can to the station. Put the oil in and fill her up. Will mix fine. Above old post is idiotic. It is designed to dissolve with gas. Google "equilibrium"
