Smile Is pinging always audible?

I am currently playing with ig timing (static and total adv) gradually advancing both and the engine is making more low RPM power, but there is of course a limit. I'm keeping an ear out, but can piging in a rotary be inaudible before it's audible (like a recipicating engine) should I install a ser4/5 knock sensor and wire it to a light, if so?

Thanks

Ping is not always audible. It sounds like popcorn when you really mess up, but you can be doing damage before the ping is loud enough to get your attention.
