Overheated 12A-whats going to be bad?

Here's the story, a friend of mine was doing his first race this weekend and had a brain fade on the grid for his first session. They had a long five and he was so focused on what he was going to do driving on a new track he forgot to flip on the fan. He also doesn't remember ever looking at the guages while on the grid.

Flash forward about 5 minutes. The car comes by sounding off song after about two laps and the session get black flagged for some other reason. Instead of pulling into line in the pits for a possible re-start of the session I waved him off the track. I look in the car and see the oil temp is coming down passed 280 and water is about 240 or so. I asked if they were that high the whole time!?!? and he said he doesn't remember looking.

So my question, the car had a fresh/dyno time only bridgeport with carbon seals. We lost at least one on the rear rotor, maybe two, I'll pull it apart this week. Assuming the plates and housings don't sit on a flat surface like a potato chip, would ceramics have had a better chance of surviving?
