Only 5psi of boost

Hi guys,
Any one had this prob on their 3rd Gen?
Flooded after 4 week lay-up - removed, dried, cleaned and re-fitted plugs and she started ok.
Warmed her up (everything ok) and went for a drive.
All was ok except when I go WOT the boost will only go upto about 4-5 psi, it doesn't matter what my revs are, can be from idle or 6k it just won't boost anymore.
once it gets to 5 psi it looses power (feels like either a fuel or ignition problem). I have double checked the plugs and leads, checked all the visible pipes.
Apart from that everthing is ok.

I have read something about the dual throttle system the will not allow anymore than 5 psi if faulty.

I have no major mods other than induction kit, HKS hard pipes, Blitz rear silencer, and a Blitz Dual SBC (which I have never touched since purchasing the car over a year (and 5k miles) later).

Im based in the UK and we don't seem to have many experts here due to only 120 3rd gens being officially imported thru Mazda

Many thanks

Andy

Do you get any warning lights? Have you always had this problem? Do you know of any vacuum leaks?

Yes. I have had this problem before but that does not mean that yours has the same answer. It sounds to me like th second turbo is not "turning on". Check all the vacuum lines running to and from the turbo including wastgates and the actuater that activates the second turbo on the bottom side of the exhaust manifold. Make sure that it is moving properly, easy to do with some compressed air and a gauge. If everything checks out the it might me a little vacuum solenoid on top of the vacuum line "rat nest" (under the manifold) it has 2 small hoses running into it about an inch long. it is sitting all be itself so it is not to hard to find (see picture, circled in green). It gets dirt in it and stops working properly (this is what was wrong with 2 cars I had that problem with). Also check the vacuum chamber on the top of the engine (circled in yellow). One of thoes line fell out on me before and caused a similar problem.

Hope this helps. good luck.

its sorted. yipee!

thanks for the advice guys, the cars sorted but you would not believe the headaches I've had trying to sort it.
I checked all my hoses, solenoids, actuators and was still only getting 5psi. I even checked my ECU codes and found nothing.
Turns out the Jap/Uk spec cars need a proper diagnostic tool to access the codes, it can't be done any other way and thats why I didn't notice that the ECU had defaulted to 'limp home mode'
Disconnected it for half an hour and nowe I'm back to 10-8-10 boost.
I'm so happy, I'm so happy!
Thanks again guys - you know who you are!
