Oil pressure problems
93 Rx7 base I have not seen this before but here is the problem. My oil pressure bounces from 0 to about 30 while the engine is at Idle which is about 900 RPM. After about 1200 RPM the pressure smooths out to about 30. This is a new engine with low milage on it and I am wondering If I have to change the oil pump or is it the pressure regulator. Has anyone seen this before. I am not looking forward to removing the front cover for the oil pump or the pan for the regulator. Can this be done while the engine is in the car? Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

I agree it's probably the sensor and not the oil system. I was seeing scary numbers on my oil pressure gauge also. I installed an aftermarket pressure sensor and Banzai-Racing oil pedestal because I wanted the ECU to have it available for logging and engine protection failsafes. Here's a video overlay comparison, aftermarket sensor vs the old OEM sensor:
I didn't bother replacing my car's original sensor yet, I might try to build something so the factory gauge can display the aftermarket sensor values. The original sensor was fine in 1993, but it's is a pretty outdated design by today's standards.
