Unhappy Oil Oil Oil

hi everyone~~
this is my second post
i posted the carbon post and asked about oil question
but no one seems to give the answer i'm looking for

i know it's preferred not to use synthetic as our oil in the engine
but i'm not asking if i should use synthetic or non synthetic.
i use >>>>>>20w50 Castrol GTX<<<<<<<< in my car!!!!
20 w 50 20 w 50 20 w 50
is that ok??? i thought 20w50 would protect most,
and since it's not synthetic, it would burn easy...
have i made an excellent choice??? or no???
please respond with your recommendation
thanks guys u guys are the best

Cool

The do not use syn oil crap was from many years ago with the first syn oils which were not that good and gummed up the apex and side seals.

Many owners use it today with very good results but the argument still goes on because of mistrust, tradition, or people just afraid to try it.

There are many threads out there about this.

Just like when DEXCOOL first came out, the fanatics said it was no good.

I tend to believe the faq for the FC forum on this. Synthetics aren't bad in general, just certain brands. It lists trusted and untrusted brands. Just like dyno oil, synthetics aren't all the same at ne given weight. Everyone I know that is running synthetic, runs one from the trusted list. If it isn't on the list you should probably call the company to make sure it burns clean without leaving deposits.

That's pretty much the same oil I whent with, although I came to realize that I might as well have gone with the 10w30 since it covered all my driving conditions as well and would resist the motion of the engine less. So I switched at my next oil change.

well I answered with what my feelings were, which would imply that the engine oil is ok but there are better oils. Do you have the rx7 owner's manual? Cause it's got a graph in there stating which oils are good for various temp ranges. 20w50 is good for basically everything and 10w30 is good for almost everything, just not good enough if ur in 100+ ambient temp (farenheight).
