oil leak and smoke... can anyone help me out?

whats up everyone... i have a problem with my FD. My car seems to be fine when running because it doesnt jerk around, rattle, or make any noise and engine power seems to be fine, but there is a wierd smell of burning oil when the car is idling after a long drive, also noticed that when idling there is greyish-white smoke comming out from the engine bay and underneath depending on how hot the enigine gets. The Harder i push the car the more smoke comes out. Upon further inspection i noticed that when the car is parked overnight in the driveway there are always a few small puddles of oil on the ground and when i changed my oil the other day i found that the whole undercarriage is coated with oil which is being blown toward the back when the car is running. Just wondering how to fix this problem and wondering if this kind of situation has happened to anyone else... Also wondering if i would need to have a rebuild... my car is a totally stock touring model with 65,000 original miles. Turbos work great also, but just wondering what can i do to fix my precious FD. Anyone's helpful comments and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

Check the oil send/return lines going to the turbos. If your oil pan is dented, it will need to be fixed. Try checking all the bolts around the oil pan. The next place to check is around the Metering Oil Pump, as well as its lines (be careful, they're sort of brittle). From there, check the front cover (where the Crank Angle Sensor goes into), as well as the front seal (you have to remove the pully or get creative with a light). Make sure your oil fill-tube is secure. Lastly, check all around the oil filter and it's "perch." there are O-rings inside the oil-filter perch, and they sometimes go bad. Pull the rubber (plastic?) check plug from the transmission and put your finger inside it; you should get some dust on it, but not a sludgy mess. If you do, you need a rear seal. Worst-case scenario is that you may have developed an actual crack in one of the iron castings (unlikely).

If it hasn't been abused and has had oil changes every 3k miles, then the need for a rebuild is not required. Generally, at around 120,000mi, they either eat an apex seal, or it's time for a rebuild. Change your coolant! Additionally, get rid of that AST (Air Separation Tank; where you fill your coolant). A turbo timer is a MUST, especially if you do any amount of "spirited" driving. Replace the spark plug wires (a PITA to do, btw) as well as the spark plugs. An upgraded intercooler isn't required, but if you've got a little $$, do it. Get a REAL boost gague.
