Oil Dipstick Pushed out

Does anyone know what would cause the oil dipstick to be pushed out of the tube almost all the way. My engine actually squirted oil all over under the hood out of tha dipstick tube....any advice anyone??

Is your oil filler neck vent blocked?

did you have the dipstick pushed all the way in? if not, it could of poped off. also is the ring at the top of the dip stick worn or corroded? (sp) if the seal at the top is not tight, it could pop off.

just an idea, but if you had too much oil in there, the pressure may of caused it to pop off, or just having to much oil may of caused it to pop out? when did it happen, while driving or just sitting?

It is also usually a sign of a bad side seal.

yes is probably broken side seal, if this only happens when u hit boost and u r having oil being squirt up all the way to the hood it means u have abroken side seal and the boost is leaking right thru it , this happened to me before and out of bad experience i can tell u this

Thanks for the info. I actually confirmed it last night- a side seal is broken. What would cause this to happen?

Update,
it was the black outer oil control ring seal. It got progressively worse from 0 miles to 900.
