oil cooler line clamps

what clamp(s) should I use for making my own oil lines? Or really which is cheap and would work well and hold up to stock oil pressures and temps of a 12a with (soon to be) front mount oil cooler. I was planning on sourcing fittings and then clamping flexible high temp/high pressure hose to the fittings. Would using hose clamp (screw type) clamps be a bad idea? I was thinging of just getting some barbed fittings (two straight ones that go into the oil cooler and two 90 degree ones for the front cover and rear housing). Suggestions are welcome and encouraged as long as they are 1st gen owner cheap and will work. I know I could just get the Mazdatrix lines but I don't have that kind of time or money.

I was curious about this as well, I have hydraulic line and fittings at my job and would like to use those (some of us don't have 200 bucks for oil cooler lines), anyone else have a better idea?

I'd say small t-bolt clamps woudl work just fine. The hose is the main issue. The t-bolt clamps sold at places liek autozone for fuel injection line would work just fine.

Find a shop that makes up hydraulic hoses, I had mine done for under 60 bucks with 2500 psi hose. Bought all of the parts and assembled the hoses and ferrels, clocked the fittings in the correct orientation, then took them back to the shop to have the ferrels clamped.

I would never use any type of off the shelf screw clamp. You cannot get the clamping pressure needed to hold the hose on the barb. Blow an oil line on a hard run and the engine will be out of oil before you can shut it down. Definately not worth the risk.

If you want to see how it's done, check the 1st gen archives under my user name. I have a writeup there on installing a 2nd gen fmoc in a 1st gen, it covers the hose assembly.
