Unhappy Not dropping to 5 psi on the second turbo but rather dropping to 0!!!!!!!

The first turbo will push 10-11 psi then after 4,5-5k rpms you can feel the car lose power and see the boost gauge fall right back down to 0. It has been driving me nuts, I have pulled out half the engine bay trying to find anything. Just a little ago I found a torn hose, replaced it, got all happy because I thought I fixed it, put everything back together, no difference at all! The hose I replaced was the one comming from the charge control actuator. It looked fine untill I moved it and saw the rip. It's up on the secondary turbo portion of the Y pipe.

Arrow Birds of a Feather

Hello,
My friend's 94 Touring has the EXACT same problem. He's always too busy to let me poke around on it much, but as I'm sure you and I both know, it's gonna be a pain to figure out.

Did you take off the upper intake manifold and verify that every single hose is routed correctly? I have a color-coded diagram that I made that is better than the factory one...

http://www.zeroglabs.com/rx7/reference.htm

I will think about this problem and see if I can guess the right answer... but it's 3 am now, so I have to sleep!

I'm over in Rockville... maybe I've seen you around? I always wave at other RX-7s. I've got a 87 TII and a 93 R1 (in my garage in a billion pieces right now).

Anyhow, I swear I will try to think of the solution for you and for my friend... If I think up any 'must check' items, I'll post another message here.

Yeah a lot of people seem to have this prob. I just was reading a post about a similar problem fixed by replacing the cat or pre-cat. I don't see how that works out because the first turbo still boosts fine. Maybe it screws with the required pressure to start the 2nd.

I don't feel to comfortable to pull of the manifold.... I just don't have the tools or knowledge right now. I have poked around under there though, sprayed carb. cleaner, ect. It probably isn't a vacuum leak, maybe a bad solenoid, maybe the cat. If I do find anything I will let the forum know.

I give a thumbs up to any other 7 owner, if I have time to get my hand out the window I saw another White RX and was pretty excited, dude didn't see me though. I haven't been up around 495 or MD much in the 7 yet. "EugeneChoe" is another member who is up in Rockville. I met him up at the MD BBQ.
