No idle, tps throttle cut! Need help!
No idle, tps throttle cut! Need help!
So here is my predicament I’m having some trouble with my tps and idle timing... I believe.
She dies if you don’t keep her rev’d up. She has no problem starting back up but if your not on it she can’t idle. She simply won’t idle at all. I’m expecting it’s my idle timing or something of the sort. but I can’t see to wrap my head around all these forums and how to fix it.
As far as the tps. When the tps no long gets a read (about 40% on throttle) cause the throttle is open past what it can reach she drops. It’s as if I need a new tps that can tell the ecu that the throttle is wide open or I need to adjust it. Should I get a new tps?
she will continue to climb in RPM so long as i don’t open the throttle too much!

I had an issue similar to this.
1st thing first. What ECU are you running? You should check to make sure your TPS is operating properly (to verify it works), then make sure its aligned on the teeth properly.
2nd...back your throttle plate adjustment all the way off (front of the throttle body) and make sure its tight. Your idle adjustment valve (under the throttle body elbow to the immediate left of the bottom right-most bolt for the elbow...fit for a flathead screwdriver) make sure you turn it all the way to the right, then one full turn to the left.
3rd...Calibrate your TPS. Depending on the ECU you're running, you can research how to do it.
4th...Fire up the car and see where it idles. Adjust the idle adjustment valve (under the throttle body elbow with the flathead screw) as needed. I hope this works out for you!!
