no electrical power

I tried starting my car the other day and it had no power what so ever, no lights the interior light or even headlights. I got out of my car to check under the hood everything was tight. I tried starting my car again and it started perfectly with no dimming lights or anything. What the hell could be the problem what do you guys think?

The only other thing I can think of that would kill all the electrical would be a bad cell/contact inside the battery, and closing the hood could have jarred the contact back into place.
