Are we supposed to put on a new washer with every oil change?

If so then what size is it?

Mine is chewed up on one side. Looked like a copper washer.

Yeah, you probably should replace it each time. It is a crush washer, so it doesn't have the same physical properties after it has been installed once (ie- won't seal as well). I don't know the size, but the dealer has 'em for like a nickle appeace. On a side note, i didn't change mine a few times with no problems. But now I change it every time i drain the oil.

I installed a Fumoto valve on my FC over 12 years ago, and it has worked great ever since! No more bashing my knuckles when I change the oil in my driveway, no more fishing for the plug in the pan of hot oil, no more stupid washers, and I can drain any amount of oil that I want at the flick of a switch. These types of valves have been used on aircraft for years, so I have no idea why automotive manufacturers have ignored this fantastic product. Oh well, maybe someday cars will come standard with this, as they have finally caught on to other good products like synthetic gear oil and SS exhaust.

So this just srews in place of the drain plug ...don't have to do anything else?

Do we need those extra fittings/nipples too?

Yep, replaces the drain plug. No, you don't need the nipples (on the drain :p ) unless you want to put a hose on it....which i can't see why you would.

Evil Aviator, I got the same thing too. Just ordered and received a second valve for our Honda. I've had one on the FD for two years. Love these things...

I use one from the local parts store... I think it's made by Fram (YUCK!) but it's 3 parts... a plug with a valve like the one in a car valvestem, a cap to keep dirt out, and a fitting with a hose. You just remove the cap (it's finger tight) and screw on the fitting with the hose (again with fingers) and it drains. Remove the hose/fitting and it stops. Put the dust cap back on, replace the filter, and fill. These are available at any parts store for about $12-$13 or so.
