i have only a limited knowledge of rotaries but when my brothers car was doing that i replaced the MAF and it ran fine...so you might want to look into that.

well i knoww i got spark and fuel becuase the car still runs its just when i give it gas it dies. so if it was the the mass air flow sensor it wouldnt run at all. my buddy seems to think its the throttle postion sensor.

Well you need to check both when the engine dies. If spark or fuel pressure dies off when you let more air in then it dies. You can run with out a tps it just idels teribble and they are easy to check.

The car will still run if the airmass is going bad. But It will run poorly, or have problems like you are having.
Theres a good chance that it is the MAF or like you said TPS.

Check the voltage on the TPS by opening the throttle slowly with your hands while watching the volt meter. Alot of time, when they go bad, there will be a blank spot in them where they read nothing and then once you get past that point will read normal again.

Could be a MAF sensor, fuel pump, FPR (fuel pressure regulator), vaccum leak, does it see to go rich or lean when it dies while reving? Is the idle crap or decent? Does the idle bounce or is it level, what RPM does it idle at, what's the vaccum at idle, does the vaccum hold steady or bouce?
