need help with 2nd gen rx-7 HELP!!!

need help with 2nd gen rx-7 HELP!!!

so i am gonna pick up my new car tommarow. its a 89 gxl and heres whats up. k so from what the guy claims and i saw reciets the car was rebuilt at 80,000 miles and now has 130,000. he parked it one night and next morning it wouldnt start although it was parked in running condition. he took it to a mechanic stupid piston mech took the front cover off (as you can see) and a whole bunch of stuff. mechanic said the mtoor was bad but wouldnt it just have been flooded? so what im gonna do is put it all back together and see if it will start. it hasnt ran in about 3 months so what are the precacions i need to take???? (new oil,lubricants etc anything) please list the seals or gaskets i need to put them back together. ALSO anyone willing to help out in the bay are i ll pay for youre gas,lunch BEERS(if needed) BOOSTUP is back!!!!\

there is a possibility that it was just flooded. if he started it to move it and then shut it off without letting the engine warmup these things will flood almost everytime. kinda hard to say with the front cover off though best you could do is run a compression test to make sure it's not blown

thanks im gonna compression test it tonight but one more thing do i need to buy any new gaskets from what you see or should i use the old ones and sealent>?

looks like you'll need a front cover gasket and the water pump housing gasket, oil metering pump oring (only if damaged), the front cover oil pump bypass oring and white plastic spacer, correct me if i'm wrong (anybody) but i believe there are supposed to be 2 thin metal shims for 2 of the water pump housing studs.

You are right sir and also a NEW front main seal for the front cover it's off already. I will look into your oil pan as well, do you have the air flow meter did not see it in the pics!

P.S. A good battery something with high CCA - 700 or more take your time and get done right good luck.

i have the afm its in my trunk. also i noticed the housings and the front cover had been powder coated green so im preety shure its rebuilt. i have a battery im nat shur the cranking amps though but i will check. so far i just put the front cover on with a new gasket (cragens) im not sure what shims your talking about but i will look for them

hey everyone i got the car started but it runs wierd i need learn how the cas and pulley is set up because the timing is really bad. any pics or write ups of the process. also theres no yellow mark on the pully just 2 white marks. how am i supposed to set up the cas???also if i dont have the air pump installed will that cause a clanking sound when the engine is reved?
