Need advice

Hello everybody,

My Name's Tom from Luxembourg (Europe) and I want to buy a RX-7 FC!
I tested one today it was a 1987 Turbo II with 90000 miles (140000km) on it , the car ran smoothly but there was one bizarre thing! I was trying to drift around and the Oil Caution signal lights up and a noisy peeeeep scared me !!

But There was enough Oil, can this be a bad signal ??

The guy wants 3000 US $.(3000 Euro)

Thanks for any advice,

Cheers,

Tom

I get the warning light in my 1979 mini when i try to take corners too fast (even for a mini!) it simply means the oil has been pushed over the opposite side of the engine from the centrifugal forces, away from the sensor.

The beep was more than likely the over-rev warning, ignore it and take into the red - that thing just gets on my nerves, so i disconnected it

Yeah, that buzzer comes on when you get low oil (in your case the oil was just splashing around in the pan) low coolant, or when you hit the red line on the tachometer. If you are going to be doing stuff like that in the car, you can get a oil pan baffle from www.mazdatrix.com to prevent the oil from splashing and foaming up. Foaming oil does not get picked up by the oil pump and circulated through the engine to well.

that'll happen. make sure you check the rotor housings very good. you do not want pitting around the water seal or flaking of the housing surface.
