Mystery Rattle with 87 Rx-7 Turbo2
I've had my car in the shop for a couple days now (Maztech, Tampa) and we're having some troubles with a rattle that occurs between 2,000 and 2,300 RPMs. It's kind of a vibration noise. I just had a new clutch installed by Maztech and the noise has started after installation. Jeff seams to think it's an exhaust problem but it sounds like it's coming from the front of the car (engine bay). He just changed the transmission mounts and a broken motor mount. Any ideas? I could really use the advice, thanks guys.
Check all the interrior trim and all the heat shields under the car. Make sure the shields are nice and tight, and aren't touching the body or other components. That, and if you've got some old or cheap mufflers, I'll bet the baffles are shot and are rattling. There isn't much that can cause a rattle, it's just finding it that's a problem
