How tight to make oil pump pulley-nut?

So i'm putting on my oil pump gear again (had no oil pressure, the key fell out!), so i got it back on, w/ the key in there this time.

Now i go to tighten it up. so i'm tightening... tighening... DOH i accidentall turn the main pully!! (cause of the gear attached... you know..).

Is this bad? My understanding is you dont want to move the engine when assembling this stuff. I have the clutch in for preventing the crankshaft stuff from seperating, so i can't put it in gear and spin it.

I don't have an impact gun, so i dont know how tigh ti need to make it.

What are your reccomendations??

Thanks ~Geoff

Is this a 12A or 13B engine?
The only thing bad about moving the crank is that it is possible for the washers and bearings behind the front counterweight to move. If you turned the crank by turning the nut on the oil pump, it probably didn't move the washers off the shoulder that they sit on. isn't the key for the drive gear the same key for the front counter weight?

Anyway, the nut on the front of the oil pump gets tightened 23-34 ft lbs, then bend the lock tab over the nut so it can't back off. Thats on a 13B engine. You shouldn't have to take that nut off though. If you use a 10mm wrench, you can stick the wrench behind the pump pulley and loosen the 4 mount bolts and pull the pump off the engine. That will create slack in the chain so you can get the chain off.
