Mystery pipe!!! Please help

Hi guys and girls, ive had my FD3s for years but never got the time to join up. Ive recently done an auto to manual conversion on it, but as other things got in the way ive left it a little to long to put it all back together!

With my memory not being that great. Ive tried searching the net and cant find the answer. I cant for the life of me work out what this pipe does, and if it should go any where? or does it simply vent to atmosphere off the side of the gearbox.

Ive included some pics, the first one shows where this pipe meets the engine, ive removed the two nuts that attach it to show. The pipe then goes down, over the top of the gearbox and then over to the other side of it. The pipe then faces down towards the ground. Some sort of breather??? should another pipe go on to it?

many thanks in advance guys

its called the split air pipe, it goes to the stock cat. it also doesn't do much, so if you have no cat you can just leave it open

thanks for that! I thought it couldn't do much, is it best to blank it off then or just leave it as it is?

if you have the air pump, you can't plug it, so probably easiest just to leave it.
