Setting end play?

Hey all! So I finally got a dial indicator to set my engines end play (87 rx7 13b na). So I assembled to whole front assembly, but I have no end play. I might have .001" at the most. I put in new thrust bearings, new thrust washer, and bearing plate. The end play washer I have is 8mm, witch as far as I know is the smallest one that I can get?
So my question for y'all is: am I missing anything? Does the flywheel need to be installed? I followed front end assembly according to alldata and utube... Soooo, I'm kinda lost.
Thanks in advance guys!

Okay... So i Google'd a little bit, and came up with this thread off of rx7club.com.
https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo...usings-123763/

So quoting rotarygod:
"I does adjust e-shaft play but that is determined by the thickness of the engine. When you put the spacer on you have to press it all the way back in. When the engine is lapped and therefore shorter than it goes back farther and a thicker spacer is needed. The different spacers were available from the factory because of minute discrepancies between engines. Not all engines come with the same spacer from the factory."

So does this mean i need a thicker spacer?
I did have my housings lapped, and new rotor and main bearings (if that is important).

Thanks!

in olden days of yore when the plates was lapped many times
then the trick was to put 12a-s4 FC water pump shims under the stat gear before you bolted it down
and there would also have been other tricks on the crank to get oil galleries to window up

but for first lap on FC plates then you just need a bigger spacer
or maybe to try to measure with less vas on the torringtons

if you look on the side of the spacer it will have a code
for SD 12a to FC then the codes will run as -
S , T , X , K , Y , V , Z.. tallest to shortest

S = 8.12mm 8871 23 129
T = 8.10mm 8534 11 518
X = 8.08mm 0839 11 506
K = 8.06mm 8519 11 517
Y = 8.04mm 0839 11 508
V = 8.02mm 0839 11 502
Z = 8.00mm 0839 11 509
