Ok, I put in 2 new coils, rotor, distributor cap, fuel pump, fuel filter, and still when I start my car up it sputters a lot and the rpms go up and down in the middle of driving really bad and sputtering at the same time, it back fires like a shot gun! HELP

 

Maybe you should test the compression

 

the catalytic could be clogged! Mine is currently in the shop for that.

 

get ure carb jets checked and ure carb fine tuned for its age its 17/18 yrs old ya kno

 

not trying to be wise-*** but also check to make sure you didn't cross the coil wires and that you put all the plug wires to the right plugs ...

check the timing

also, you mentioned that the cap and rotor are new, what about the plugs?

 

fixed it, ignitor was bad it has 2, 1 worked and the other only worked part of the time, replaced with a used one from a friend that had a spare and saved 80.00 thanks for all the suggestions..
