mating a 13b to a toyota or chevy tranny
OK. I'm not into Race cars. I'm building a new Rock Crawler Buggy.
this is my current one.
it was a 1994 jeep grand cherokee.
some specs
-small block 350 on propane
-SM465 tranny
-twin stocked NP205 t-case
-Dana 60 front axle
-Dana 70 rear axle
4 link rear
3 link front.
I'm building a new tube buggy and the rotory motor has always intrest me. Super high revs will be super nice with low gearing. The 350 tops out around 4500 RPM and sometime it woudl be nice to have somethign hit the 8-9's.
Plus the light weight motor woudl be nice.
so my question to you. Is there any readily available information on mating a 13b to a Chevy tranny or a toyota one?
i've seen this but no tech:

I think it mounts up to a 82 fwd toyota tranny.
Just use a stock tranny(5 speed) or use the na automatic tranny and have a tranny shop build it up and mess with the gearing
You really have to drive a rotary car to understand how awsome it feels and sounds
anyways what are your goals?
oh wait hahha sorry this thing isn't gonna be rwd
Read the article and at the end of it they explain what they mated up to the 13btII
If worse comes to worse have a tranny custom made to fit the 13b
edit: here
a Suzuki Samurai transfercase, fitted with 4:16 to 1 reduction gears, is the OEM three-speed slushbox transmission

thats exactly what I was wondering. Dont you need torque for crawling, the rotary pretty much has none. Sure you can rev it up, but I dont think you will do to much with it.
