CA Loosing boost at high rpm

94 FD stock twin setup

So after installing vac/boost gauge first thing I noticed is that I’m dropping boost at high rpm. I’m also not mashing it to the floor as my motor isn’t fully broke in. 1/2 to 3/4 throttle is all the harder I’m pushing her. Before I installed the gauge I noticed it felt like it was dropping off in power at high rpm and now I can confirm it. At half to 3/4 throttle I’m getting around 5psi but like I said as I climb in rpm it slowly drops off. Any ideas?

I’m wondering if the second turbo isn’t coming on and that’s why I’m dropping boost is the first turbo doesn’t carry boost that high since it comes on so early. I don’t know thou I’ll have to start testing actuators and solenoids when I get the car back from smog.

I just remember the car having a small hiccup when second turbo comes on which I haven’t noticed it doing that. The other thing that sticks out as being obvious is I remember with my aftermarket intakes the blowoff valve being very audible and since I got he car going even before I put the stock airbox back on the blowoff is not making the audible hiss. Like I said I also haven’t been mashing the throttle so that might have some effect on things.

After driving the car home today I’m almost certain the second Turbo is not coming on. Anyone got ideas as to what I should look at first? Fist turbo is coming on fine but boost just tappers off like the second turbo never kicks in and the first turbo just fades out.

What is the max boost you're seeing, where does it peak, when does it fall off and how far?

You should see 10psi almost immediatly, dip to 8psi (approx 4.5krpm I think) then back to 10psi.

*edit* I just re-read your post. I believe you need to make at least 7psi to open up/activate the secondary turbo. Since you're only driving in partial throttle as part of the break in it's hard to judge... finish your breakin period then try.

Ok so took the car out today got some video of a 3rd gear pull. I’m producing 11 psi up to 4500 I get a small dip to about 8 psi very brief dip hard to catch if your not focusing on gauge I wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for the video I took. After the dip it goes right back to 10psi but immediately drops to around 6-7 at 5000 and stays there up threw the rest of the rpm slightly dropping in pressure as it gets close to redline. I am also not smashing the pedal to the floor that’s at about 3/4 pedal, I’ll give her some more pedal after smog just trying to be nice to her tell I get pass smog and finish break in.
