This problem isnt mine, its a problem my friend with a Turbo II has.

He took his car in for scheduled maintenance and i think a rebuild last winter, and they told him his car should be running in tip top shape. But for some reason as of a month ago his car has developed these issues.

1. The car doesnt hold its idle when the engine is cold, he has to give it a little gas to keep it from bottoming out for a minute.

2. The car has "rough" acceleration from 4-5KRPM. Its very strange, its smooth on WOT up until there and then the engine just barks at you and then it smooths out until the redline.

3. When releasing throttle after WOT the exhaust shoots a cloud of black smoke. I believe it might be oil....

Are these common problems? Or is this really gonna cost my friend alot in repairs/rebuild?

black is gas

i'd find someone with a wideband that lives near you to take a look. stumbling is never good

 

What was done when the motor was re-built? Did he have any other modifications or add on's done? My first initial thougth would be a tuning or sensor issue due to the re-build.

update there was no rebuild done, just the regular 999 milion mile check up

also Iv only seen the smoke from inside the car, but Id assume that its closer to a black then a blue, but couldnt say for sure
