Issue when car is at temp it seems to fuel cut until key cycle

Hi there, so I’ve been having a newer issue with my s4 tii. When the car is not fully at temp it runs very strong all the way to redline. But once I start getting to full temp, no matter how much throttle input I give, it will completely cut fuel? But only for a second, come back for maybe a second. And repeat the cycle until I let off the gas. Now I found last fall that if I turn the car off and start it back up, I have about 3minutes of it running flawlessly again. Until it falls back into the same cycle. I had injectors cleaned and tested along with new fuel pump/sock and in-line fuel filter installed with fresh gas, also installed a known good maf but nothing has helped yet. Would love to know if anyone had a similar issue at some point. Sock ECU and stock harness aswell

welcome to the forum. i'm not too knowledgeable on the 2nd gen but it sounds like it might be what's known as limp mode, and may have something to do with the oil metering pump(OMP). free downloads of the manuals and wiring diagrams can be found here: https://www.foxed.ca/index.php?page=rx7manual#secondgen. hopefully someone with more knowledge than i will chime in soon. good luck with it and i hope u can get it resolved without too much trouble.

here's a link to the 2nd gen section: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...-1986-1992-17/

I’ve deleted the OMP a while back and since been running premix. My ratio changes depending on if I’m going to a track day or just street cruising

welcome to the board.

what you're describing does sound like limp mode, but since your car is an S4, then it shouldn't be equipped with that. that's for S5 and newer rotaries. has the ECU been swapped (to an S5)?

the next thing that i can think of is maybe you're hitting boost cut for some reason. do you have a free-flow exhaust system? maybe check the wastegate for some sort of malfunction. also, i believe the S4 turbos are known for creeping. for now, that's all i have. maybe someone with more comprehensive knowledge will chime in soon.

I don’t believe the ecu has been swapped. I could take a look at it and see if I can cross reference the number on it. And the wastegate has been making a weird rattling sound. Like the arm that operates the door is coming loose. Maybe I’ll pull the turbo for inspection. I have another wastegate I could install otherwise thank much!
