Iron Housing thickness

Whats the Minimum thickness for the Iron Housings.....i've got some small gouging....very minimal but i had a sudden loss of oil in the engine and didn't know it and long story short the front cover and Intermediat housing was a lil messed up from frying the bearings....i was told its minimal damage but i need to have the Irons resurfaced.....does anyone know how Thin the irons can be? (how much can be ground off before i have to start worrying about endshaft play and slotting bolt holes).

What you have to worry about is the integrity of the o-ring lands. The general concensus is .003" can be machined from each surface. That isn't much and if the damage is as I suspect you should probably look for new housings. If you do have them machined you will need to rework the endplay spacer to achieve proper endplay.

before it was wiped clean

you can barely feal any of the wear.....just the spots where it shows the "burns" you can hardly feel it. I'm gonna machine off .002"
