do you need an upgraded computer in order to run a car with, lets say a m2 intercooler

i dont have a new cpu but am running a intake, exhaust without any problems.

i've been wondering this too. an intercooler would cool the air down making it more dense which would require more fuel. without an ECU to enrich the mixture you'd run lean. how much? i don't know. certainly don't turn the boost up without a computer. for me i'm already running rich so i'm wondering if its enough to add an IC without immediate tuning.

Rule of thumb: 3 mods = ecu upgrade

adding the ecu is more cost effective than adding a new engine. Always better to play the safe side...

Always good to dream Alex !!!! But I would get a air/fuel mix gauge first so then you know how you are running

This is untrue. Since the air is denser, the pressure in the intake manifold decreases. You get more volume of air within the same constraints. Fuel demands will not increase. Fuel demands increase only when pressure increases..

Most aftermarket intercoolers have a lower pressure drop though, so the intercooler does a make a difference in overall flow rates.
